Karlan Grant expressed his happiness at returning to Charlton Athletic after rejoining the club in the summer. The forward, who previously spent six years at West Brom, described his return as a homecoming. Grant left Charlton in January 2019 for Huddersfield, a move that was met with mixed feelings from fans. Now, at 29, he aims to leverage his Championship experience to benefit the team and its younger players.

Charlton's academy has a strong reputation for developing talent, and Grant highlighted the impressive forward line featuring academy graduates like Tyreece Campbell and Miles Leaburn. He emphasised his role in mentoring these young players, stating he is eager to share his knowledge and experience. Grant also mentioned the emergence of Alan Mwamba and tipped Ruben Reid as a promising talent to watch.

The club's successful youth development is attributed to its location and supportive coaching staff. Grant reflected on his own journey, recalling how he benefited from playing alongside future stars during his youth. He believes that the opportunities available in Charlton's community can lead to success for aspiring young players, as the pathway for development remains strong.

Charlton will face Norwich City on Saturday, marking their annual Red, White and Black weekend, which promotes equality and inclusion. The event will feature a parade to The Valley, involving local students and community groups. This year, the march precedes the Charlton Women's match against Chelsea Women, highlighting the club's commitment to social issues alongside their football activities.

In addition to the weekend's festivities, the men's match will support the EFL's Together Against Racism campaign. Grant, along with teammate Charlie Kelman, participated in a workshop aimed at combating racism, reinforcing the importance of community engagement. He noted that football's influence can help bridge gaps and promote diversity both on and off the pitch.
