Erling Haaland once again proved to be a thorn in RB Leipzig's side, scoring the decisive goal in Manchester City's 3-2 victory in the Champions League. The striker found the net with just 12 minutes remaining, tapping in from Elliot Anderson's low cross. This marked Haaland's 13th goal in nine matches against Leipzig, making them his most frequent victim in his career. The win also helped City bounce back from their recent defeat to Brighton.

City initially took the lead thanks to a comical own goal from Castello Lukeba, who inadvertently turned the ball into his own net. Leipzig had dominated early chances, with Christoph Baumgartner and Antonio Nusa both coming close to scoring. City struggled to maintain their advantage, allowing Leipzig to equalise shortly after the break when Ridle Baku scored from a tight angle, catching Gianluigi Donnarumma off guard.

After Baku's goal, City regained their composure, with Enzo Fernandez heading home to restore their lead. However, Leipzig responded quickly, with Nusa scoring to level the match once again. The game intensified as both sides sought a winner, with Haaland eventually finding the net after a strong spell from City, aided by Jeremy Doku's introduction.

Despite the thrilling nature of the match, Donnarumma's performance raised concerns. He was at fault for Leipzig's opening goal and displayed uncertainty throughout the game. His struggles were highlighted when David Raum's free-kick rattled the crossbar, showcasing the pressure he faced in goal. City managed to hold on for the win, moving up to seventh in the league phase table.

Head coach Enzo Maresca acknowledged the challenges posed by Leipzig, praising their organisation and aggression. He expressed satisfaction with the three points but noted the need for improvement, particularly in managing transitions during the game. Haaland echoed these sentiments, emphasising the importance of stepping up and capitalising on leads in future matches.
