Troy Parrott scored two goals for the Republic of Ireland, but the team settled for a 2-2 draw against Austria in their Nations League match at the Aviva Stadium. Ireland took a two-goal lead into half-time after Parrott's stunning opener in the 12th minute and a penalty just before the break. However, the second half saw Austria stage a comeback, with goals from Alexander Prass and Michael Gregoritsch leveling the match.

The match was interrupted twice in the first half due to protests. The first protest involved tennis balls wrapped in stickers featuring the Palestinian flag, which were thrown onto the pitch. The second interruption occurred when a pitch invader carrying a Palestine flag was tackled by security. These protests were linked to Ireland's decision not to boycott their recent game against Israel.

Ireland had a chance to secure a victory that could have seen them top Group B3, but they now sit third behind Austria and Kosovo at the halfway stage of the group. Manager Heimir Hallgrimsson made three changes to his starting lineup, including the return of Finn Azaz, who received a warm welcome from the crowd. Goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu was also back in the squad.

Parrott's first goal came after a clever run, nutmegging a defender before scoring. He then converted a penalty after Ryan Manning was fouled in the box. However, Austria responded with Prass's goal, which was confirmed after a VAR check, and Gregoritsch's free-kick equalised the match. Ireland captain Dara O'Shea had a chance to win it late on, but the match ended in a draw.
