JJ Gabriel has requested to leave Manchester United amid interest from Barcelona

Barcelona and Real Madrid are currently engaged in discussions to acquire Manchester United's young forward JJ Gabriel. The 15-year-old player and his family are in Barcelona, where negotiations with both LaLiga clubs are progressing. Other major European clubs, including PSG and Bayern Munich, are also showing interest in signing the promising talent.

Gabriel's request to leave Manchester United was formally lodged earlier this week. Despite the club's leadership hoping to convince him to remain until his contract expires at the end of the season, the likelihood of his departure from Old Trafford appears to be increasing.

Following a UEFA Youth League match against Sabah, where Gabriel scored a hat-trick in a 5-0 victory, he and his family requested to be de-registered from United. Since that match, Gabriel has not participated in training sessions with the club, indicating a potential shift in his career path.

There is speculation that Gabriel could join a European club once he turns 16, particularly if he secures a European passport through his parents. However, any transfer would require FIFA approval. United's head coach Michael Carrick emphasised the importance of handling the situation delicately, prioritising Gabriel's well-being amid the ongoing scrutiny.
