Klopp is expected to sign Germany contract until the end of the 2030 World Cup

Jürgen Klopp is set to become the new head coach of the German national team after reportedly reaching an agreement in principle with the German Football Association (DFB). Negotiations took place in New York, where a breakthrough was achieved, paving the way for Klopp to sign a contract that is expected to last until the conclusion of the 2030 World Cup. Only minor details remain to be finalised before the official announcement.

The DFB plans to announce Klopp's appointment on Saturday, marking a significant shift in leadership for the national team. Klopp's imminent departure from his role at Red Bull is anticipated to be completed early next week, as he finalises arrangements with the company's chief executive, Oliver Mintzlaff. This move comes after Klopp's tenure at Liverpool, which ended in 2024.

Klopp's contract with Red Bull included a special exit clause that allows him to take on the Germany job. His appointment follows Julian Nagelsmann's resignation after Germany's unexpected exit from the World Cup in the last 32 against Paraguay. Nagelsmann had been in charge since September 2023 and led the team to the Euro 2024 quarter-finals before their defeat to Spain, the eventual champions.
