Klopp warns he will resign if media harasses his family

Jurgen Klopp has taken on the role of Germany's head coach, succeeding Julian Nagelsmann after a disappointing World Cup. Klopp's contract extends until the conclusion of the 2030 World Cup. He had previously left Liverpool due to a lack of energy after a successful nine-year tenure, during which he secured six trophies. His return to management comes with a clear mission to enhance the national team’s performance.

In his first address, Klopp issued a warning to the media regarding the treatment of his family. He stated that if the press does not respect his family's privacy, he would consider resigning. Klopp emphasised that his commitment to the national team is genuine, and he aims to improve the squad while managing expectations surrounding their performance.

Klopp acknowledged that his appointment does not guarantee immediate success for Germany. He pointed out the need to adjust expectations, particularly in comparison to other top teams like France. He stated that while Germany may not currently be at the top, they still possess the potential to compete fiercely against any opponent, provided they play intense football.

The new head coach expressed his desire for a direct relationship with players, contrasting his approach with that of his predecessor. Klopp plans to visit players in person, fostering a connection that he believes is crucial for success. He has identified a pool of around 57 to 60 players he considers for future selections, aiming to unify support for the national team.

Klopp's coaching staff includes former Liverpool assistants Pep Lijnders and Peter Krawietz, alongside Sven Bender. The German Football Association has also appointed Per Mertesacker as the new sporting director. Klopp's first match in charge will be against the Netherlands in the Nations League on September 24.
