Andoni Iraola has called for Liverpool to prioritise creativity over control as they prepare for their match against Crystal Palace. The team has struggled to create significant chances this season, ranking second-lowest in the Premier League for big chances created. Liverpool's recent performance at home saw them score just four goals in five games, matching their lowest tally at this stage of a season in club history.

The Reds set an unwanted record last weekend against Arsenal, failing to register a shot on target for the first time in over 440 Premier League matches. Iraola, who joined Liverpool last summer, has faced challenges in implementing his direct style of play. He emphasised the need for players to take more risks to convert their possession into clear scoring opportunities.

Iraola noted that while the team has been strong in reaching the final third, the quality of their chances has been lacking. He highlighted the necessity of having more players in the box to increase the threat level, even if it means sacrificing some control during matches. The coach pointed out that the team must improve their approach to attacking the box to create better shot opportunities.

In addition to addressing creativity, Iraola commented on the team's honesty in play, particularly regarding penalty appeals. He mentioned that Liverpool could benefit from being more assertive in their claims for fouls. Despite the team's overall struggles, forward Alexander Isak has been a standout performer, contributing significantly to the team's goal tally this season, and Iraola praised his ability to find scoring positions.
