Manchester United recorded revenues of £677.6 million despite not playing European football

Manchester United has reported record revenues for the fiscal year 2026, achieving £677.6 million. This figure surpasses the previous record of £666.5 million set in 2025, despite the club not participating in European competitions last season. However, the financial report also revealed a pre-tax loss of £43 million, an increase from the £33 million loss recorded the previous year.

The club posted an operating profit of £22.6 million, a significant recovery from the £18.4 million loss in the prior year. This turnaround is attributed to reductions in operating costs and headcount, alongside improved performance in the Premier League. United secured a third-place finish in the league, a notable improvement from their 15th position the year before under former manager Ruben Amorim.

Despite these positive revenue figures, the club's fourth-quarter revenue and EBITDA saw a decline. Revenue fell from £164.1 million to £157.5 million, while EBITDA decreased from £37.5 million to £28.9 million. The club's financial strategy has included cost-saving measures, such as a reduction in payouts following the departure of Amorim, who joined AC Milan.

CEO Omar Berrada expressed confidence in the club's financial health, stating that the record revenues reflect the strength of their business model. He emphasised the importance of a disciplined approach to maintain financial stability while investing in both the men's and women's teams. Additionally, the club has made progress towards developing a new 100,000-seater stadium, having secured the necessary land for the project.
