Myles Lewis-Skelly, the 20-year-old midfielder from Arsenal, has made the 25-man shortlist for the prestigious Golden Boy award. This accolade, awarded by the Italian publication Tuttosport, recognises the best U21 men's player in Europe. Lewis-Skelly is one of eight players from the Premier League nominated for this year's honour, showcasing the talent emerging from English football.
Among the other Premier League nominees are Bournemouth's Eli Junior Kroupi and Rayan, as well as Brighton's Luka Vuskovic and Charalampos Kostoulas. Chelsea also features two players on the list, Estevao Willian and Jorrel Hato. Manchester City's Ayyoub Bouaddi completes the representation from the English top flight, reflecting a competitive selection process this year.
Barcelona leads the nominations with three players, including Pau Cubarsi, who was named the best young player at the summer's World Cup. Other notable nominees from Barcelona are Marc Bernal and Xavi Espart. Real Madrid has two players in contention, Yan Diomande and Endrick, while Paris Saint-Germain's Warren Zaire-Emery and Bayern Munich's Lennart Karl also feature among the finalists.
The shortlist includes a diverse range of talent from across Europe, with clubs like Porto, Borussia Dortmund, and Roma also represented. The Golden Boy award has a rich history, with past winners including legends such as Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney, and more recently, Jude Bellingham and Lamine Yamal. This year's competition promises to highlight the next generation of football stars as they vie for this coveted title.
