Spain head coach criticises Argentina's behaviour after World Cup final

Luis de la Fuente, the head coach of Spain, has condemned the behaviour of Argentina's players after the World Cup final, labelling it as "intolerable and unacceptable". This statement comes in light of FIFA's investigation into the incidents that occurred post-match, including Leandro Paredes receiving a red card for violent conduct towards Spanish players.

Following the final whistle, Paredes was involved in a confrontation where he pushed Spain's Eric Garcia and Gavi. Additionally, Nahuel Molina attempted to disrupt Spain's Rodri during celebrations, while Argentina's coach, Roberto Ayala, reportedly tried to punch Dani Olmo, for which he has since apologised.

De la Fuente expressed his disappointment, stating that such actions should not be tolerated, especially from players of high calibre. He praised his own squad for maintaining their composure amid the aggression and provocation from the Argentine side. Despite the tense atmosphere, the Spain team showed respect by forming a guard of honour for Argentina as they received their medals, although the Argentine players turned away during the trophy celebration.

FIFA has appointed a Disciplinary and Ethics Prosecutor to investigate the incidents further, with more information expected to be released following the completion of the report.
