Swansea City maintained their position at the top of the Championship with a last-minute winner from substitute Ronald against Millwall. The match faced disruption in the 65th minute due to alleged racist chanting aimed at Swansea's Eom Ji-Sung. Referee Edward Duckworth paused the game and consulted with both managers and a fourth official, while a security guard was present to address the situation in the stands.
After a delay of nearly seven minutes, the match resumed with an announcement regarding the chanting and police efforts to identify those responsible. Despite the incident, the game concluded with a dramatic finish as Swansea secured their victory in the dying moments. Ronald's decisive goal came after Millwall had dominated large portions of the match.
Millwall had several opportunities to take the lead, with notable chances coming from Mark Sykes and Jenson Metcalfe in the first half. However, Swansea's goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux made crucial saves to deny the Lions. Swansea struggled to create clear chances early on, managing only one shot on target in the first half, while Millwall's defence remained resolute.
As the second half progressed, Swansea began to assert themselves, with Joseph Opoku and Ross Stewart coming close to scoring. Millwall's captain Jake Cooper made vital interventions to keep the score level. However, in the final moments, a cross from Opoku caught the Millwall defence off guard, allowing Ronald to strike and clinch the victory for Swansea.
Millwall manager Alex Neil expressed disappointment, believing his team deserved more from the match, while Swansea's Vitor Matos praised his side's resilience and organisation. The result solidifies Swansea's position at the top of the league, while Millwall will seek to bounce back in their next fixtures.
