Wales faced a 1-0 defeat against Denmark in the Nations League, with Rasmus Hojlund scoring the decisive penalty. The match turned on a second-half mistake by goalkeeper Danny Ward, who lost possession to Gustav Isaksen in the penalty area. In an attempt to recover, Ward fouled Isaksen, leading to a clear penalty awarded to Denmark.
Hojlund converted the penalty in the 75th minute, securing a second consecutive win for Denmark over Wales after their previous 2-0 victory in Copenhagen. Despite a promising win against Norway just days earlier, Wales struggled to maintain their energy levels against a well-organised Danish side. Craig Bellamy made minimal changes to his line-up, with only Brennan Johnson coming in for Daniel James.
Wales had a slight edge in first-half possession but failed to convert that into significant chances. Ethan Ampadu and Johnson both missed opportunities, while Denmark's attacking threat grew as the match progressed. The visitors had several chances, including a close header from Isaksen that Ward managed to save just before the penalty incident.
The defeat leaves Wales in third place in Group A4, following Norway's loss to Portugal, which has sent them to the bottom of the group. Wales' hopes of securing a clean sheet were dashed, and Ben Davies expressed disappointment over the loss but remained proud of the team's effort. He acknowledged the challenges posed by strong opposition and the absence of key players.
