West Ham United delivered a commanding performance against Wrexham, securing a 6-0 victory at the London Stadium. This win marks their fourth consecutive league triumph, propelling them to the top of the Championship table. Nuno Espirito Santo's side showcased their dominance from the beginning, overwhelming the visitors and demonstrating a level of play reminiscent of their Premier League days.
Captain Jarrod Bowen initiated the scoring in the 28th minute, converting a cross from Manor Solomon. The Hammers maintained their pressure and extended their lead just before half-time, with Joel Piroe finishing a move initiated by Taty Castellanos. West Ham's attacking prowess was evident as they continued to find the net after the break, with Konstantinos Mavropanos scoring from a corner shortly after the restart.
The relentless West Ham attack saw Castellanos add to the scoreline in the 63rd minute, calmly finishing after a well-timed pass from Kyle Walker-Peters. Mohamadou Kante then made it 5-0 in the 76th minute, capitalising on a clever ball from Solomon. Solomon rounded off the scoring, netting the sixth goal despite the best efforts of Wrexham's goalkeeper, Anthony Patterson.
This emphatic victory elevates West Ham to 14 points from six matches, placing them above West Bromwich Albion. The Hammers have now scored 16 goals in their last four outings, signalling their intent to return to the Premier League. In contrast, Wrexham faced their heaviest league defeat in over twenty years, struggling to contain West Ham's attacking threats throughout the match.
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson acknowledged his team's defensive shortcomings, particularly after the opening goals that shifted momentum. He noted the need for resilience and improvement in their upcoming matches. Meanwhile, Espirito Santo praised his team's performance, highlighting their energy and organisation as key factors in their success against a strong opponent.
