Falkirk secured a significant victory over Celtic, marking their first win against the champions since 2007. The match saw Celtic miss a crucial opportunity to widen their lead in the Scottish Premiership title race. Manager Martin O'Neill made three changes to the starting lineup following a midweek draw with Dundee United, but his side struggled to keep pace with a determined Falkirk team, which has now won four consecutive matches.
The hosts opened the scoring just three minutes into the game when Ethan Ross capitalised on a defensive error from Cameron Carter-Vickers. Ryan Strain's cross found Carter-Vickers, who inadvertently set up Ross for an easy finish. Falkirk doubled their lead in the 38th minute, with Scott Tanser firing the ball past Celtic's goalkeeper after a deft move past Carter-Vickers.
Celtic attempted to respond, but their efforts were thwarted by an impressive performance from Falkirk's goalkeeper, Scott Bain. He made a series of crucial saves, denying Camilo Duran and Hasseim Hassan on multiple occasions. Although Falkirk had a third goal ruled out by VAR for handball, they maintained their composure to secure the win and keep Celtic at bay.
Despite Celtic's late pressure, they could not find the net, with Bain making ten saves throughout the match. The defeat marked Celtic's sixth loss in their last ten games, leaving them four points ahead of Rangers, who have played one fewer match. Falkirk's win propelled them to fourth place in the league, just two points behind Hearts, highlighting their recent resurgence in form.
