Newcastle United increased the pressure on Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sage following a 2-0 victory at Selhurst Park. The defeat came after Palace's heavy 5-0 loss to Brighton the previous week, leaving them in desperate need of a strong performance. However, the Magpies capitalised on Palace's poor start to the second half, securing a win that adds to Sage's mounting troubles.

The match began uneventfully, but Newcastle quickly took control after the interval. Just a minute into the second half, Will Osula scored from Jacob Murphy's cross, putting the hosts on the back foot. Palace struggled to respond effectively, with Newcastle's manager Matthias Jaissle seemingly outmanoeuvring Sage in the tactical battle.

Newcastle nearly doubled their lead shortly after, but a VAR review ruled out a goal from Joe Willock due to a narrow offside. This reprieve did not energise Palace, who soon found themselves conceding again when Harvey Barnes scored just before the hour mark, sealing their fate and leaving the home fans disheartened.

As the match progressed, murmurs of discontent grew among the Palace supporters, who were left with little to cheer about. The only moment of concern for Newcastle's goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek came from Dario Osorio's long-range effort, which was easily dealt with. Newcastle's victory marks their first win in three matches and a much-needed clean sheet, lifting them to seventh in the Premier League standings.
