West Ham have appointed Scott Parker as their new head coach, marking his return to the club after 15 years. The 46-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract, succeeding Nuno Espirito Santo, who was dismissed after just over a year in charge. Parker will be supported by first-team coaches Steve Potts, Gerard Prenderville, and Billy Lepine, with Mark Noble also playing a key role alongside his former teammate.
Parker will lead the team in their upcoming match against Cardiff City at the Cardiff City Stadium. He takes over with West Ham currently positioned eighth in the Championship, sitting six points behind the league leaders, Middlesbrough. The club hopes his experience and leadership will help them climb the table and secure a promotion spot.
In his first comments as head coach, Parker expressed pride in returning to a club that holds significant meaning for him and his family. He reflected on the fond memories of his four years at West Ham, highlighting the strong connection he built with the fanbase. He emphasised his excitement about the opportunity to lead the team back to the Premier League.
Parker has a successful track record of winning promotion from the Championship, having achieved this feat with Fulham, Bournemouth, and Burnley in recent years. His appointment comes after a period of being out of work since leaving Burnley by mutual consent in April. As a former England international, Parker played 129 matches for West Ham, scoring 12 goals during his tenure as a player.
