Wolves secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Bristol City at Ashton Gate, thanks to a late brace from substitute Sean Neave. The match began with Bristol City taking the lead in the 34th minute when Scott Twine scored a stunning free-kick from 25 yards, curling the ball into the top corner past Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa. This goal came against the run of play, as Wolves had been the more threatening side in the opening half.

Despite being behind at half-time, Wolves increased their attacking intensity in the second half. Their efforts paid off in the 82nd minute when Kieran Trippier's cross led to a scramble in the box. Adam Armstrong's shot was saved, but Neave reacted quickly to net the rebound, bringing Wolves level. Just six minutes later, Neave struck again, heading home from close range after a free-kick from Trippier was flicked on by Ladislav Krejci.

City's manager, Michael Skubala, expressed disappointment over the late goals conceded, stating that the team needed to defend better. He acknowledged that while there were positives to take from the match, the team had to learn from their mistakes, particularly in possession. Skubala also noted the need for improvement ahead of their next home game against Norwich, highlighting concerns about their home form.

Wolves' manager, Cesar Peixoto, praised his team's character and resilience, emphasising the importance of their supporters in turning the game around. He noted that the players responded well to tactical adjustments made at half-time, leading to a more dynamic second-half performance. Peixoto also highlighted Neave's contributions, recognising the significance of his first professional goals in building his confidence as a young player.
